A quick start sets up the grid; your paper, header and colours stay as they are.
Most printers can't reach the very edge of the sheet — keep at least ¼ in (6 mm) of margin.
Split the page into several separate grids — handy for a set of small coordinate planes.
The hexagon grows to fill the space inside the margins. Pointy top comes out bigger on a portrait page, flat top on landscape. Set more grids across or down to get several big hexagons to cut out.
“Label every 2” numbers every second tick, and makes those ticks longer.
0 turns bold lines off. Every 4 squares of ¼ in makes a bold line each inch.
The check bar should measure exactly 1 in (or 2 cm) on paper. If it doesn't, the printer scaled the page — print at 100% / “Actual size”.
The PDF is the most reliable way to get true-size squares. When printing from the browser, choose 100% / “Actual size” and turn off headers and footers.
